A touch of summer…

Natural History . Photography

…in frosty February.

The opening of ‘Chasing Butterflies’ – a retrospective of John Vetterlein’s 13-year obsession with photographing butterflies – was absolutely heaving at the Harbour Lights Cinema in Southampton last evening.

A selection of his best work is on display in the gallery space until the 27 February and covers common and less common species. Butterflies (and a few moths to be fair) are shown in poses which are more familiar than the flat images shown in an identification guide and would look fantastic on many a wall.

50 per cent of the proceeds from sales from this exhibition (and from John’s web-site) will go to Butterfly Conservation. If you can make it to the Harbour Lights the exhibition is well worth a look – or if you are going to a movie make sure you leave some extra time to browse the gallery.

More information and John’s on-line shop can be found at butterflyphotos.co.uk
